Milan Fashion Week bought all the big hit designers to the forefront, from Versace and Dolce & Gabbana to Cavalli and Gucci, it was a full on glamorous event. The highlights and trends from all the hottest designers
Gucci
Gucci designer Frida Giannini described her spring 2012 collection as
“hard deco,” and a deco-glam look definitely took over the runway with
sleek suiting, drop-waist dresses, and flapper fringe. Black and gold
heels and playful flats embellished with enamel animals completed each
look, as well as chain-strap bags, gold chokers and weighty bracelets.
Versace
Under the sea opulence was a running theme in Versace’s Spring 2012
collection. Pastel starfish and sea lion prints covered dresses and
separates, while jewelled starfish embellished mermaid-worthy evening
looks. Gold zips and studs gave the soft colour palette an edge,
decorating everything from bra tops to bags and bracelets.
Pucci
Emilio Pucci displayed an ultra sexy spring 2012 collection. Brigitte
Bardot-inspired day and night styles with plenty of revealing lace
inserts and see-through fabrics.
Missioni
Missoni went for feel-good zigzags with vibrant shades of blue,
yellow and purple. Fabrics mixed, like fringe, crochet, netting and
knits, to create texture-heavy looks, while dashes of animal print
provided a party-ready feel.
Ferragamo
Salvatore Ferragamo turned out a Spring 2012 collection with a
disco-era feel! Vibrant colors and shimmering fabrics brought Studio-54
worthy evening looks to life, and the rich hues continued through to the
clutches and color-block heels.
Roberto Cavalli
Roberto Cavalli splashed the metallic embellishments on everything
from dresses to jackets. Of course, there were a few pieces not
decorated in sparkle, instead covered with unexpected combinations of
floral and, of course, animal prints.
Prada
Prada revved it up for Spring 2012! The label offered ’s latest
collection, named “Women and Car Engines,” featured driving coats,
slim-cut skirts, bandeau tops and day dresses in wispy pleated silk
mixed with tough leather. The car theme extended to accessories, with
oversize clutches decorated with classic cars, and stper-high stilettos
emblazoned with hot rod flames. Modern cat-eye shades in candy colours
and rose enamel jewellerry studded with stones topped off the looks.
Dolce and Gabbana
Dolce & Gabbana sent an explosion of prints down the runway for
Spring 2012! The Sophia Loren-inspired collection included the label’s
signature bustier styles for day and night, as well as midriff-baring
looks splashed with sweet floral and hot pepper patterns. Woven day bags
and open-toe shoes worn over sexy lace socks accessorized the outfits,
while bow tie pasta earrings provided a nod to Italian culture.
Armani
Giorgio Armani created a sea-inspired collection with an oyster
pearly finish for his spring 2012 lineup. Day looks included
slightlycropped and slit pants layered with jackets, dresses, and peplum
tops, while evening options reinterpreted understated glamour. A trio
of iridescent white gowns encrusted with shimmering stones closed the
show.
Milan Fashion Week 2012 Trends:

season from luxe bohemian, to a styled ode to the roaring ’20s. Gucci
set the style with a black and gold Great Gatsby-inspired collection,
Etro quickly followed suit with beading, and the Jazz Age cropped up
again at Moschino.
Trend: TROPICAL
Beautiful tropical prints were apparent in many of the Milanese
designers collections, Salvatore Ferragamo went full throttle with the
trend, displaying a variety of stunning looks and Missoni showed
us beautifully crafted printed dresses, whilst Blumarine completed their
looks with raffia details.
Trend: SCARF DRESSES
Pucci went all out presenting gorgeous printed chiffon dresses,
whilst Salvatore Ferragamo and Dolce & Gabbana took to the runway
with stunning satin gowns with asymmetrical hemlines.
Trend: BARE MIDRIFF
The midriff trend is enjoying something of a revival thanks to trendsetters Rihanna and Alexa Chung,
and the Italian designers have seemed to have caught on. Roberto
